3 Questions Every Entrepreneur Should Ask Before Building Their Business

In 2023, we found ourselves both working on and attending a retreat that would quietly, but powerfully change the trajectory of our lives.

The retreat was called Pursuit, led by our teacher and friend Ryan Glidden, centered around some of life’s most important questions:

Who am I? What am I doing? Why am I doing it?

We helped bring the container to life—designing the website, coordinating logistics, and shaping the experience alongside Ryan, who taught and led the retreat.  But we weren’t just behind the scenes. We were in it, too. Sitting in circle. Asking the hard questions. Listening for what was next.

And somewhere during that weekend, it all clicked.

We realized we’d been doing this kind of work for a long time—bringing ideas to life, creating space for transformation, supporting others in building with clarity and care. For ourselves. For close friends. But we hadn’t named it. We weren't official.

That retreat was the mirror we didn’t know we needed. It reminded us that our own pursuit was already unfolding—quietly, intuitively, naturally. The next step was just to say yes to it. To shape it into something intentional and tangible. That’s when SAUVRN was born.

The Power of Your Why

At the heart of that retreat—and now at the heart of our work—lives one of Ryan’s essential prompts:

Who am I? What am I doing? Why am I doing it?

We return to these questions again and again, both personally and professionally. We've come to realize that they are the compass points of a purposeful business and a meaningful life. Here's what they mean to us:

1. Who am I?

This is the inner alignment. The real you—beneath the roles, the noise, the expectations. When you create from this place, your work becomes an expression of truth. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be yours.
